without solving for x in f(x)=0,  show me a different way to find the  roots of f(x)=x^2 −x−1

Different from solving a quadratic?  Finding the roots of f(x) is called  solving f(x)=0

What I meam is, are there any other methods?     For example, how can you find the x   interception without directly solving  the quadratic? is there a way?
