how can this be equal???  sin wt  = e^(−at)

why not?  −1≤sin wt≤1  if a>0, e^(−at) <1 when t>0 ⇒ there  exists t>0 such that sin wt=e^(−at)   if a<0, e^(−at) <1 when t<0 ⇒ there  exists t<0 such that sin wt=e^(−at)
