in how many ways can 6 people sit around a roundtable?  I need workings please?

5! = 120

$$\mathrm{5}!\:=\:\mathrm{120} \\ $$

In this type of problem, the answer is (nāˆ’1)!

on a round table it doesnt mater who  sits in which seat.  assume there are  one woman and 5 men. the woman  takes a place at first.   we know to arrange the  other 5 persons there are 5! ways.  therefore the answer is 5!=120.
