your method (corrected) leads to  a^4 −((6(726+41(√(77))))/(37))a^2 +((169(93+2(√(77))))/3)=0  ⇒ a^2 =((2178+123(√(77)))/(37))±((√(−6(1895361−572321(√(77)))))/(111))  ⇒ a≈7.00105 ∨ a≈11.2719  I got the same result a≈11.2719

Using coordinate method I made 2 decisions:  x−coordinates of D is o+(√p) and E is q−(√r)  to keep both inside. we could get 4 solutions  choosing ++, +−, −+, −−

a=11.2719  is for the blue triangle.  a=7.0011 is for the green one which  is not the requested solution.
