wx + 2z = 3   ............ (i)  3x − y + 4z = 4   ........... (ii)  6x + 2wy = − 4   ........... (iii)    find  w, x, y, z

More equations are required to determine  all w, x, y, z in numbers.

wx + 2z = 3   ............ (i)  3x − y + 4z = 4   ........... (ii)  6x + 2wy = − 4   ........... (iii)  (iii)⇒3x=−2−wy..................(iv)  (ii)⇒3x=y−4z+4.........................(v)  (iv),(v)⇒−2−wy=y−4z+4                   ⇒y+wy=−6+4z                   ⇒y=((−6+4z)/(1+w))................A  (i),(iv)⇒  x=((3−2z)/w)......................B  •Insufficient data to determine w,x,y,z       in numbers.  •We can only determine any two of w,x,y,z        in terms of remaining two.  •In A and  B we′ve determined x and  y        in terms of w and  z.
