(5−y)^2 +5^2 =5^2   (5−y^2 )=0⇒y=5  5^2 =25 m^2
$$\left(\mathrm{5}−{y}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} +\mathrm{5}^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{5}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$$\left(\mathrm{5}−{y}^{\mathrm{2}} \right)=\mathrm{0}\Rightarrow{y}=\mathrm{5} \\ $$$$\mathrm{5}^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{25}\:\mathrm{m}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$

a=side length of square  (5−a)^2 +(5−(a/2))^2 =5^2   a^2 −12a+20=0  (a−2)(a−10)=0  a=2     (a=10 >5 rejected)  area of square =a^2 =4 m^2
$${a}={side}\:{length}\:{of}\:{square} \\ $$$$\left(\mathrm{5}−{a}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} +\left(\mathrm{5}−\frac{{a}}{\mathrm{2}}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{5}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$${a}^{\mathrm{2}} −\mathrm{12}{a}+\mathrm{20}=\mathrm{0} \\ $$$$\left({a}−\mathrm{2}\right)\left({a}−\mathrm{10}\right)=\mathrm{0} \\ $$$${a}=\mathrm{2}\:\:\:\:\:\left({a}=\mathrm{10}\:>\mathrm{5}\:{rejected}\right) \\ $$$${area}\:{of}\:{square}\:={a}^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{4}\:{m}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$
